We strive for harmony and beauty in every project we undertake, contributing to an overall sense of wellness for our clients.
We are architects who value aesthetics, pragmatics, and joy. In 2010, Audrey Sato founded Sato Architects, Inc. out of a desire to better our planet and improve lives through the power of design. Since our first project for The Dailey Method Calabasas, our work has spanned residential, commercial, and educational projects, with sub-specialties in green building and historic preservation.
We are a certified WBE, MBE, LBE, SBE, and EBE company distinguished by our commitment to building excellent relationships through our work. Our firm’s 13 year history showcases our proven track record of client satisfaction and transformative design. We pride ourselves on a collaborative, open process and team-oriented mindset.
Principal Architect
Audrey Sato, AIA, LEED-AP
Audrey gained an appreciation for the beauty of nature and the importance of community while growing up in Honolulu, Hawai’i. While at Brown University, Audrey discovered her love for architecture, realizing the potential for design to enrich and change lives. Audrey graduated with honors from Brown University, with a double concentration in Visual Arts and Architectural Studies. Her senior thesis was written on the topic of Hawaiian vernacular and sustainability. She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, winning numerous design awards during her time there. She spent five years teaching architecture design studios at her alma mater, an experience that was rewarding and invigorating.
Audrey is a licensed architect in the states of California and Hawai’i, and is a LEED-accredited professional. She has a passion for green building and rehabilitation of existing buildings. Her experience working with historic properties includes homes originally designed by Lloyd Wright and Gregory Ain. She has also worked on behalf of the City of Los Angeles to inspect over 300 properties for the Mills Act Program.
Audrey is a firm believer in giving back to her community. She has actively worked to improve our AEC community through her roles as Past-President of the Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D), host of the XX|LA Architects Podcast, USGBC-LA’s Green Homes Committee member, Association for Women in Architecture Foundation (AWAF) Mid-Career Fellowship Winner, and former educator at Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Architecture.
